Article: Q&A with our founder Montana Lower

Q&A with our founder Montana Lower

To celebrate our fearless founder's 28th solar return we've asked her a few questions to reflect on the journey that has brought us to this moment and the incredible person Montana has grown to be.  With each passing year, Mon has blossomed into an extraordinary person, guided by passion, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. We are in awe of her continuous growth and the strength that has been cultivated throughout this remarkable voyage.

You have officially completed your 28th solar return... What about your life today would surprise your younger self?
The fact that I became a mum so young (my idea of young), a lot earlier than I ever thought I would.

What is a lesson that you have learnt recently?
That my body holds the truth and wisdom sooner than my mind. To give my body permission and authority over my mind.

You have a double degree in civil and environmental engineering... is there anything else you have desired to study?
Yes! I'm really interested in deepening my knowledge and wisdom in plants and their medicinal properties.

If you could have a conversation with your 18-year-old self (10 years ago!) what advice would you give her?
I'd tell her that there is no rush, as corny as it sounds, any plans that you have or goals, it's nice to have them, but life has its own plan for you. It’s more about ensuring you are in alignment than ticking things off a list that is usually other people's perceptions of success.

What are you listening to at the moment?
Nature's Joint -  ((( O ))) ~ for chill times

Who inspires you?
Drawing a lot of inspiration from all the women in my life of all ages. Witnessing how we all move through different situations and how we hold safe space for each other and what that allows. Giving and receiving permission from women to be safe enough to express.

What’s an 'unconventional' way you show yourself self love?
By allowing my daughter to drop a tantrum in the shops and not trying to change her and holding space for her. By holding space for her to feel what she feels without others perceiving her, I can feel it in my body and it makes me feel like I can do that too.

What's your party trick?
Bringing my guests to the chicken coop so they can take their own fresh eggs home.

What does the rest of 2023 have in store for you?
Next stop… Bali! Who’s coming?

Our bodies are a vessel, an archive animated by where our attention has rested. They are shaped by what we return to, again and again. What we listen to. What we tend to. What we consume. What we r...
