Our Third Year Supporting The Returning
TODAY 100% OF SALES (NOT PROFITS) DONATED TO THE RETURNING INDIGENOUS CORPORATION
Today, January 26th 2025, your skincare purchase does more than nurture your skin, it helps nurture the land and support Indigenous wisdom.
We believe skincare is about more than self care, it’s about connection: to yourself, to others, and to the natural world. Inspired by nature’s ability to heal and restore, we recognise that the beauty industry doesn’t exist in isolation. It’s part of a much larger story about how we live on this earth. Supporting The Returning allows us to give back in a way that aligns with our values: by helping to heal Country, uplift Indigenous voices, and create a future where the land is as cared for as the skin we nourish.
About The Returning: Healing Country, Spirit, and Connection
The Returning is an Indigenous-led organisation based on Bundjalung Country in Northern Rivers, NSW, with a mission that is both foundational and inspiring. At its core, The Returning is about healing, of the land, of communities, and of the deep connections between them. It’s an invitation for all of us to rediscover what it means to live in balance with nature, culture, and each other.
The State of Australia Today Australia is at a crossroads. Over the past two centuries, colonisation left profound wounds, on the land and its First Peoples. Entire ecosystems were disrupted as forests were cleared, waterways were polluted, and native species were pushed to the brink. At the same time, Indigenous Australians were forcibly removed from their lands, separating them from the cultural practices that had cared for the environment for tens of thousands of years.
Today, we’re seeing the ripple effects everywhere. Biodiversity is declining as native plants and animals struggle to survive in damaged habitats. The overdevelopment of land, disconnection from natural rhythms, and disregard for the balance of ecosystems have made droughts, bushfires, and floods increasingly frequent and severe. And many Australians feel separated from the land, unsure of how to repair what has been lost.
And for many, the relationship between people and the land feels distant and broken.
But it doesn’t have to stay this way. Imagine forests regrowing where once there was barren ground. Picture rivers running clean again, teeming with life. Think of communities coming together, learning, sharing, and healing alongside each other. This is the kind of future The Returning is working toward.
The Returning reminds us that the wisdom Indigenous Australians hold is key to this healing. They teach us that caring for the land isn’t just about fixing what’s broken, it’s about building relationships based on respect, reciprocity, and care. When we support Indigenous leadership, we’re not just preserving ancient knowledge, we’re creating healthier ecosystems, stronger communities, and a future we can all thrive in.
Why Support The Returning? When you support The Returning, you’re helping create tangible change in three key areas:
-
Healing Country: The Returning’s programs focus on restoring relationships with the land by implementing sustainable practices and encouraging connection to Country. These efforts nurture biodiversity, protect natural habitats, and provide opportunities for Indigenous women and youth to engage in meaningful work that strengthens cultural and environmental ties.
-
Empowering Communities: Through their cultural camps and programs, The Returning provides spaces for First Nations people to reconnect with their heritage and for non-Indigenous Australians to learn from these traditions. These experiences build bridges of understanding and respect, creating stronger, more unified communities. By offering employment and educational opportunities, The Returning also ensures that Indigenous women, artists, Elders, and youth are recognised and remunerated for their cultural knowledge.
-
Revitalising Knowledge: Indigenous knowledge systems hold solutions to many modern challenges. By preserving and sharing this wisdom, The Returning ensures it continues to guide sustainable living for generations to come. Their programs include nature therapy principles, cultural education, and opportunities for connection to Country, fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnection between people and the environment.
What They Do
The Returning offers a range of initiatives designed to create meaningful impact:
- Cultural Camps: Immersive experiences where participants learn about traditional practices, stories, and the deep connection between land and people.
- Family and Community Support: Programs that provide resources and guidance to strengthen cultural ties and build resilience.
- Healing Retreats: Safe spaces for reflection, personal growth, and healing.
- Education and Training: Workshops and programs that empower participants with skills and knowledge rooted in Indigenous wisdom.
The Tangible Impact
Supporting The Returning isn’t just an abstract gesture, it delivers measurable benefits. Here are some examples of the tangible outcomes your support enables:
- Programs rooted in ecological care that restore natural habitats and nurture biodiversity.
- Youth programs that empower the next generation of leaders with cultural knowledge and practical skills.
- Community gatherings that strengthen bonds and provide healing spaces for families and individuals.
- Workshops for all Australians that promote understanding, respect, and collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
How This Helps All Australians
The work of The Returning extends far beyond the communities it directly touches. When we heal Country, we stabilise ecosystems and protect the natural resources we all depend on. When we uplift Indigenous voices, we learn from ancient systems of knowledge that can guide us through modern challenges. And when we come together to support one another, we create a society that values connection, understanding, and care, society that benefits everyone.
Be Part of the Change
By supporting The Returning, you’re contributing to a future where the land is healthier, culture is celebrated, and communities are united. This isn’t just a donation, it’s an investment in a world where respect and renewal guide how we live. Together, we can create real, lasting change, for the land, for the people, and for the generations yet to come.
